

Elan Kaney graduated from Florida State University in 1997, with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. At FSU, Ms. Kaney was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. In 2001, Ms. Kaney graduated from Emory University School of Law, where she was an active member of the Moot Court team, winning Best Brief during the Spring 2000 term. Ms. Kaney was also a Pupil in the Atlanta Inn of Court. In 2002, Ms. Kaney graduated from New York University School of Law with a Master of Laws in Taxation.
Ms. Kaney joined Cobb Cole as an associate in the tax department in 2002 after participating in the firm's summer program in 1999 and 2000. Her practice consists of Estate and Tax Planning and a wide variety of complex civil issues including business transaction disputes, professional liability, employment litigation, products liability and probate/trust litigation. Ms. Kaney holds a AV rating, the highest rating obtainable by an attorney from Martindale-Hubbell, an international database that provides information for lawyer referrals.
Ms. Kaney is active in the community, where she was the chairwoman of the of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties, Campaign Chairwoman for the United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties, is the immediate past-chairwoman for the Women's Initiative of the United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties and is the Secretary for the Dunn-Blount American Inn of Court. Ms. Kaney is the past president of the Executive Women's Council and has served on the American Heart Ball planning committee. Ms. Kaney was previously selected as a 2009 Young Business Leader by the Volusia/Flagler Business Report. In 2011 Ms. Kaney was admitted as a member to the Civic League of the Halifax Area.
