News ArchivesTHE STAR FAMILY CENTER RENAMES MEDICAL CLINIC IN HONOR OF HEATHER BOND-VARGAS
In a ceremony at the STAR Family Center on August 31st, 2009, the on-site medical center was renamed the "Bond-Vargas Care Clinic" in honor of Heather Bond-Vargas, the immediate past president of the STAR Family Center's Board of Directors. Ms. Vargas served on the capital campaign that raised money to build the shelter and served as president of the Board of the organization during the construction, opening, and initial two years of operation of the shelter. The Star Center Board of Directors elected to recognize Ms. Vargas' extensive contributions by naming the medical clinic for her. Ms. Vargas indicated that she was quite honored to have received such recognition, commenting "I only did what needed to be done."
