Ms. Kaney graduated maga cum laude from Florida State University with a psychology degree in 1997. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law in 2001, and a Masters of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2002. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2001.

Ms. Kaney is the past president of the Executive Women's Council. Ms. Kaney is also a Director on the United Way of Volusia/Flagler Counties Board of Directors; Volusia Flagler Association of Women Lawyers Board of Directors; S.T.A.R. Board of Directors; and Executive Women's Council Board of Directors.

Ms. Kaney's primary area of practice is civil matters, including employment, professional liability, business transaction and probate litigation.
