On March 19, 2012, Cobb Cole attorney Michael Sznapstajler and representatives of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Enterprise Florida, the City of Daytona Beach, and Cardno TBE presented a workshop on state and federal Brownfield programs to the City of DeLand. Brownfields are properties that have actual or perceived environmental issues impacting the expansion, redevelopment or reuse of the property. The presentation focused on the administration of the state and federal programs, state and federal brownfield program economic and regulatory incentives, and local success stories.
On February 21, Cobb Cole attorneys John Ferguson, Heather Vargas, and Andrea Kurak, with guest speaker T.J. Petrizzo, organized and presented an Intellectual Property Symposium at the UCF Business Incubator at Daytona Beach International Airport. Topics included an introduction to intellectual property, patents, venture capital, copyrights, distribution agreements, e-commerce, and liability protection & asset allocation. With more than 50 people in attendance, Connie Bernal, Site Manager for the UCF Business Incubator, said, "It was an amazing event. Cobb Cole attorneys made it easy to understand a really difficult topic. Our incubator clients and other members of the business community now have a clear vision of what they need to do in order to protect their business ideas."
