The Florida Association for Women Lawyers ("FAWL") is honoring Katherine Hurst Miller with one of its Leaders in the Law Awards at its June meeting at the 2012 Annual Florida Bar Convention. The award recognizes attorneys who have made significant impact in their communities through their legal service or volunteer activities, and who serve as positive role models for FAWL members. Ms. Miller was nominated for the award by the Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers. Ms. Miller will become one of only six local attorneys and judges who have received this award.
Cobb Cole Attorney Melissa B. Murphy completed her term as the 2011-2012 President of the Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers (VFAWL). June's Casual for a Cause is the Domestic Abuse Council, Inc. The purpose of the Domestic Abuse Council, Inc. is to provide emergency shelter, victim advocacy, transitional housing, support/education groups for victims, information and referral services, case management, residential and community programs for child witnesses of domestic violence, family intervention programs for the abusive partner, legal advocacy, community education and professional training. Casual for a Cause started several years back when the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer was raising funds. If you donated to the cause, you got to dress in denim the last Friday of the month. It proved to be such a hit that a committee of staff and attorneys was formed to pick local charities who did not receive federal funding and served a cross-section of the community.

On June 8, 2012, Cobb Cole client, International Speedway Corporation, was in The Daytona Beach News-Journal article "Speedway Corp. takes steps to revive former Daytona Live! project." Cobb Cole represents ISC in rezoning and future land use map amendment with the City of Daytona Beach to entitle the development of this project.
Cobb Cole Attorney Melissa Murphy was recently recognized in the Florida Bar News for her volunteer work as President of the Volusia Flagler Association For Women Lawyers. On May 12, 2012, VFAWL, in conjunction with the Teen Court Program of Volusia County, volunteered to landscape the area surrounding the Foxman Justice Center sign at the Foxman Justice Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. VFAWL donated the landscaping and its members to install the landscaping. VFAWL also coordinated with Teen Court so that the teens could assist in the landscaping project to earn their required community service hours.
