Tom Leek, a prominent Republican attorney, was elected Tuesday to the Florida House of Representatives.
Leek, the 48-year-old managing partner at Cobb Cole in Daytona Beach, defeated Democrat Noel Cheryl Bickford by a 62-38 margin in House District 25, which covers much of coastal Volusia County, from Ormond Beach to New Smyrna Beach. He will replace Fred Costello, who was defeated in a bid for Congress in the August primary.
Leek campaigned on a platform of bringing higher-paying jobs to Volusia, repairing workers compensation and improving water quality. He said he hoped to raise Volusia's profile in Tallahassee.
Bickford, 64, is a former hospital administrator and small-business owner from New Smyrna Beach. She ran and lost to Costello in the District 25 race in 2014. Read article here....
