Casual for a Cause started several years back when the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer was raising funds. If you donated to the cause, you got to dress in denim the last Friday of the month. It proved to be such a hit that a committee of staff and attorneys was formed to pick local charities who did not receive federal funding and served a cross-section of the community.

Our April Casual For A Cause is Project Care, Inc. For over 10 years, Project Care, Inc. has been providing for the special needs of the mentally ill in our community who reside in group homes, institutions and homeless shelters. Many mentally ill adults in our community, who have fought the stigma of their illnesses and regained some measure of self-esteem, are able to re-enter mainstream society or make plans for a self-sufficient life. Working closely with case managers who identify those individuals who are able to rejoin the community as productive citizens but have no personal support system of their own, Project Care, Inc. provides them with provides basic household needs so they can start living an independent life.
